Begin Your Unfolding

This guide is an invitation to explore your own unfolding. You don’t need to follow it in order—just begin where you are. Each stage offers a glimpse into my journey, along with questions to help you reflect on yours.

FEEL – Embracing New Emotions

Ever find yourself in a new situation and suddenly overwhelmed by emotions you didn't even know you had? These moments can be confusing, but they are also opportunities to listen intently to what my body tries to tell me. That’s where it all started for me. I’ve learned to trust my body as my guide. Reflexology and meditation became my anchors when emotions began to swirl.

Reflection Questions:

  • What emotion am I feeling right now? Can I name it without judgment?

  • Where in my body do I feel this emotion most strongly?

  • When was the last time I allowed myself to fully feel without trying to fix or change anything?

  • What situations or people tend to trigger strong emotional responses in me?

  • What does my body need in this moment to feel safe and supported?

Once I pinpointed these emotions, I dove into books, journaling, and therapy to understand their roots. Writing helped me untangle my thoughts, and professional support gave me clarity when emotions become complex to handle my own. This phase taught me that reflection is a powerful tool for healing. By the end of this stage, I usually have a better understanding of what’s been affecting my emotions, values, and responses.

Reflection Questions:

  • What might this emotion or reaction be trying to teach me?

  • Are there patterns in my emotional responses that I’ve seen before?

  • What values feel most important to me right now?

  • What beliefs or stories am I holding onto that no longer serve me?

REFLECT – A Journey to Understanding

RISE – Unleashing New Expression

With greater understanding comes the urge to share my newfound perspectives. Although finding the right outlet for expression isn't always easy, I've discovered the profound power of dance for communicating my inner transformation. It’s also about having those tough conversations and setting new boundaries, making sure I’m in the right spaces for the new me.

Through movement, I express the evolution within—whether it’s communicating my insights to others or simply embracing changes in my personal identity. Dance has allowed me to re-establish my boundaries and ensure they truly reflect the person I am becoming.

Reflection Questions:

  • What part of me is ready to be expressed or shared?

  • How do I currently express my emotions—verbally, physically, creatively?

  • What fears come up when I think about being seen or heard?

  • What boundaries do I need to set to protect my growth?

  • What does courage look like for me today?

With each step, I began to embrace the person I was becoming. I surrounded myself with people and spaces that reflected my new self. Change is never-ending, but I’ve learned to welcome it with open arms. Of course, these changes often stir up fresh emotions, but I’ve learned to embrace them as an ongoing part of my journey.

Reflection Questions:

  • How have I changed in the past year? What am I proud of?

  • What parts of my identity feel most authentic now?

  • Who supports the person I’m becoming?

  • What does it mean to lead my life with purpose?

  • How can I stay grounded as I continue to grow?

EVOLVE – Accepting the Change

"Change walks beside us - quiet, steady, true. It nudges us forward, step by step, into who we’re becoming. This journey isn’t meant to be walked alone. So let’s keep moving, together - growing, unfolding, becoming. Below you can find my personal journey map to perhaps inspire you.
Feel free to share your reflections or simply take a breath and begin again."

Journey Map:
A Personal Compass

This Journey Map is a guide to help you reflect on where you are in your personal growth. It’s a cycle that repeats, deepens, and evolves over time. This map is based on my own lived experience, not a scientific method. It’s something I created to make sense of my own unfolding, and I’m sharing it with the hope that it might offer you insights on your own path.

Each stage is represented by a symbol in the Unfold Purpose logo. Every element was chosen with care, and each one reflects a pillar of this journey:

You Are Here

The Star marks the beginning—the moment you choose to begin. This step stands outside the cycle because once you discover the joy of self-exploration, the journey becomes a continuous unfolding. Starting is the most important step. You’re here, and that matters.
